Martin Bergmann Memorial Fund

The Martin Bergmann Memorial Fund was established in his memory by his family. Gifts to this fund will support Students on Ice, an organization that educates the world’s youth about the importance of the Polar Regions, supports them in their continued personal and professional growth, and inspires and catalyses initiatives that contribute to global sustainability.

Mr. Bergmann was well respected in Arctic science circles for his tireless advocacy of northern research for over 25 years, and was Director of Canada’s Polar Continental Shelf Program in Resolute Bay. He was among those who died when a plane crashed near Resolute Bay on August 20, 2011.

All gifts to this fund will be pooled and invested with the generated income distributed as grants to Students on Ice. As the original gift remains invested, your contribution will continue to benefit our community in perpetuity.
